Yango Group has revealed that its artificial intelligence-driven navigation system helped commuters reclaim more than five million hours globally in 2025 across the 20-plus cities where it operates. The company said this cumulative time saving equals nearly 600 years that would otherwise have been lost to traffic congestion.
In Pakistan alone, riders in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad-Rawalpindi collectively saved 832,617 hours over the past year through smarter route optimisation, according to the company’s internal trip analysis.
Breaking down the figures, Karachi accounted for 471,400 hours saved, with the most frequent users cutting an average of 69 minutes and 38 seconds annually from their travel time. In Lahore, commuters saved 258,141 hours overall, translating into an average time reduction of just over two percent. Meanwhile, users travelling within Islamabad and Rawalpindi reduced journey times by a combined 103,076 hours, with the most active riders saving approximately 23 minutes and 17 seconds each over the year.
Yango’s Chief Business Officer, Adeniyi Adebayo, said the milestone demonstrates how AI can deliver practical, measurable improvements in daily urban life. He added that the next phase of city development will rely not only on physical infrastructure but also on intelligent digital systems embedded within everyday services.
The company explained that its routing engine relies on machine learning models that process both live and historical traffic data. The system evaluates road networks, signal patterns, congestion trends and route complexity in real time to recommend faster journeys within milliseconds. It also refines its predictions by comparing expected travel times with actual outcomes, allowing it to adapt to the specific traffic dynamics of each city.
Beyond reducing travel duration, Yango said improved routing contributes to lower fuel consumption, decreased emissions and reduced pressure on crowded road networks. As urban populations expand and vehicle numbers rise, the company argues that AI-powered mobility solutions can play a key role in easing infrastructure stress while enhancing commuter convenience.
