Google has released Nano Banana 2, a new artificial intelligence model designed to generate high-quality images at significantly faster speeds while making advanced features available to free users across its platforms.
The tech giant first introduced the original Nano Banana in August 2025 to power image generation within the Gemini app, followed by Nano Banana Pro in November for more detailed and sophisticated visuals. The latest iteration combines the advanced capabilities of its predecessors with enhanced processing speed, enabling quicker image creation and editing.
Technical Capabilities
The new model demonstrates improved understanding of real-world contexts and better text handling, allowing it to produce visuals that more accurately reflect user requests. It supports resolutions up to 4K, delivering sharper details and richer textures while maintaining reliable text rendering within generated images.
These advancements mean users can expect more precise results when requesting specific visual elements, with the model showing greater attention to complex instructions and nuanced prompts.
Global Rollout
Nano Banana 2 is being deployed across Google’s ecosystem, including the Gemini application on mobile and desktop devices, Google Search and Lens, AI Studio, and the Gemini API. The widespread availability ensures users can access faster image creation tools without requiring separate software or premium subscriptions.
The launch represents Google’s continued investment in expanding artificial intelligence capabilities for its global user base while strengthening its position in the increasingly competitive AI image generation market.
