Authorities in the Pakistani capital have announced that E-Tag centers will remain open on Sunday to help motorcyclists comply with a mandate to install electronic tags on their vehicles, as part of a push to improve vehicle monitoring and regulation.
The move is aimed at easing access for working citizens who are unable to visit the centers on weekdays, according to a statement from the Excise and Taxation Department.
Director General Excise, Irfan Memon, confirmed that motorcyclists can visit designated centers with their motorcycle documents and Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) to have the tags installed.
Officials have stressed that the installation of E-Tags is compulsory for all motorcycles in the capital. They have warned that riders without the tags may face legal action during enforcement checks.
The initiative is designed to accelerate compliance across the city and enhance the effectiveness of vehicle monitoring systems. Citizens have been advised to complete their registration at the earliest opportunity to avoid potential penalties.
By extending facilitation measures to the weekend, Islamabad authorities hope to ensure maximum compliance among motorcyclists and strengthen the city’s transport regulation framework.
