The U.S. Embassy in Pakistan recently organized a virtual business engagement session aimed at strengthening technology sector ties between the United States and Pakistan.
Led by Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker, the webinar brought together around 25 executives from American information and communications technology (ICT) firms with senior Pakistani policymakers to discuss market opportunities and potential collaborations.
Key participants from Pakistan included the Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication Zarar Hasham Khan, Chairman of the Special Technology Zones Authority Azfar Manzoor, and Project Director of the Special Investment Facilitation Council Syed Hadi.
The discussions focused on Pakistan’s expanding digital landscape, regulatory reforms, and incentives designed to attract foreign investment. Officials outlined initiatives related to broadband infrastructure, technology parks, and innovation-driven policies aimed at making the country more business-friendly.
CDA Baker reaffirmed the U.S. Mission’s support for economic engagement, saying that deeper cooperation could help unlock Pakistan’s technology potential while creating new commercial prospects for American companies. She added that U.S. diplomatic missions stand ready to assist firms by linking them with reliable local partners and government institutions.
The session highlighted promising areas such as cloud services, cybersecurity, data infrastructure, and artificial intelligence — fields where U.S. companies bring global experience and innovation.
The event was held under the Direct Line for American Businesses platform, which enables direct dialogue between U.S. firms and Pakistani authorities to ease investment processes and build trust.
Baker noted that this was the third such engagement in the past year, underlining the importance of sustained interaction to strengthen bilateral trade and business relations.
She also linked the initiative to the upcoming Freedom 250 celebrations marking the United States’ 250th anniversary, emphasizing the role of technological innovation in America’s global leadership.
Officials said the engagement is expected to contribute to stronger ICT cooperation, encourage joint ventures, and support the development of Pakistan’s growing digital economy.
