Galaxy Book 5 Edge 5G Becomes Samsung’s First Laptop with a SIM Slot

By Tanveer Ahmed

Lahore:Samsung has introduced a new addition to its Galaxy Book 5 lineup, and this model stands apart from the existing versions. The Galaxy Book 5 Edge 5G, first spotted on Samsung’s UK site, is the only device in the series equipped with integrated 5G support through a dedicated SIM slot. Its launch marks Samsung’s first attempt to bring mobile-data connectivity to the Galaxy Book 5 range.

Display, Build, and Audio

The Galaxy Book 5 Edge 5G features a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with a 1920 × 1080 resolution and an anti-glare finish intended for long hours of use. Its dimensions measure about 356.6 × 229.8 × 15.5 mm, and it weighs roughly 1.66 kg. The laptop includes stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos and a dual-array microphone for clearer voice capture during calls and meetings.

Processor, Memory, and Storage

Samsung has equipped the notebook with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processor (X1-26-100), an eight-core chip that can reach up to 3.0 GHz. It works with Adreno graphics and a Hexagon NPU capable of delivering 45 TOPS for AI tasks. The laptop comes with 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of eUFS storage. Users can expand storage further through the microSD slot.

The core difference between this model and the rest of the Galaxy Book 5 series is its support for Sub-6 GHz 5G via a built-in SIM slot. The laptop also offers Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Physical ports include two USB-C ports (USB 4.0), one USB 3.2 Type-A port, HDMI 2.1 with support for 4K at 60 Hz, a microSD card slot, a 3.5 mm headset jack, and a Kensington lock slot for added security.

Battery and Charging

The Galaxy Book 5 Edge 5G uses a 61.2 Wh battery and supports fast charging through the 65W USB-C adapter included in the box. Samsung estimates up to 27 hours of video playback, though real-world results will vary with usage.
