Steam users have until 20 July at 1:00 PM to play three PC games for free as part of the platform’s latest Free Weekend promotion, giving players temporary access to a space survival adventure, a sci-fi action title and a fast-paced multiplayer sports game.
The promotion allows gamers to download and play the selected titles at no cost during the event. However, the games are not permanently added to users’ libraries unless purchased separately after the trial period ends.
Two of the featured games are also available at discounted prices until 23 July, giving players the option to continue playing after the free weekend at a reduced cost.
Empyrion – Galactic Survival
The first title in this week’s promotion is Empyrion – Galactic Survival, an open-world survival game developed by Eleon Game Studios. Released in 2020, the game combines space exploration, crafting and base-building as players attempt to survive on hostile alien worlds.
Players must manage resources such as oxygen and food while gathering materials to unlock new technologies, vehicles, weapons and structures. The game also supports cooperative multiplayer, allowing friends to build bases and explore together.
With a 79% positive user rating on Steam, the game has built a loyal community. Players interested in keeping it after the free trial can purchase the Complete Edition, which is currently available at a discounted price until 23 July.
MindsEye
The second featured title is MindsEye, a story-driven action game developed by Build A Rocket Boy and released in 2025.

Set in a futuristic world, the game follows former soldier Jacob Diaz as he investigates his past while confronting an artificial intelligence conspiracy. The gameplay blends cinematic storytelling with vehicle driving, combat and exploration, drawing comparisons to open-world action games.
Although the game received mixed reviews at launch, recent updates have improved player reception, with its latest user reviews becoming considerably more positive. The campaign can generally be completed within 10 to 12 hours, making it possible for many players to finish the story during the free weekend.
Super Battle Golf
Players looking for a lighter multiplayer experience can also try Super Battle Golf, released by Brimstone in 2026.
Unlike traditional golf games, all players take their shots simultaneously, creating fast-paced and often chaotic matches. The game supports up to eight players, with power-ups, obstacles and even the ability to disrupt opponents using golf clubs and vehicles.
The title currently holds an 89% positive rating on Steam and can typically be completed within a few hours. It is also fully Steam Deck Verified, making it suitable for handheld gaming. Players wishing to keep the game after the promotion can purchase it at a discounted price before 23 July.
Steam regularly hosts Free Weekend events to allow users to test games before deciding whether to buy them. Developers often use these promotions to attract new players, increase community engagement and boost sales during discount periods.
Gamers interested in these titles should download them before the promotion ends on 20 July, after which access will expire unless the games are purchased.
