Ride-hailing platform Yango Pakistan has teamed up with disability inclusion nonprofit NowPDP to launch Baikhtiyar Pakistan, a programme aimed at creating sustainable earning opportunities for persons with disabilities through accessible transport services.
The initiative, introduced as part of Yango Group’s broader social impact strategy, seeks to remove structural barriers that often limit workforce participation. In its first phase, five customised rickshaws have been provided to selected beneficiaries, enabling them to operate independently on the Yango platform. Organisers say additional vehicles will be added as the project expands.
The launch ceremony was held at the NowPDP Centre of Excellence for Disability Inclusion in Karachi and was inaugurated by Sindh’s Labour and Information Minister Saeed Ghani. Diplomats, senior officials, and representatives from both organisations attended the event.
Country Head Miral Sharif described the programme as a step toward building a more inclusive digital economy, stressing that equal access to earning opportunities is essential for long-term empowerment.
Meanwhile, Amin Hashwani, President of NowPDP, underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the private sector and social organisations to create meaningful inclusion. He noted that initiatives like this must be supported by progressive policy measures to ensure lasting change.
With Baikhtiyar Pakistan, the partners aim to blend technology and accessibility, offering a practical model for inclusive entrepreneurship in Pakistan’s growing mobility sector.
