Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has emphasized that equipping young people with modern technology and artificial intelligence skills is essential for Pakistan’s long-term development.
Speaking at an IT entry test ceremony organized by Saylani Welfare International Trust at the Hockey Stadium, the minister said she had recently met children as young as eight and nine years old who were already contributing to technology companies operating globally.
She noted that if Pakistani youth were provided with the right digital tools and training, nothing could stop them from competing at an international level.
Praising the role of Saylani Welfare, she described the organization’s initiative to conduct large-scale IT assessments as highly commendable and a strong step toward building a skilled workforce.
Referring to government policies, the minister said Pakistan had already introduced a national AI policy and was moving forward under the broader Digital Pakistan vision to promote innovation and digital transformation.
Addressing the same event, Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori, Governor of Sindh, said the federal IT minister was working tirelessly to ensure a brighter future for the country’s youth through technology.
He added that Pakistan had proven its strength in various fields and expressed confidence that the country would also emerge victorious in what he described as the “race for artificial intelligence”.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Science and IT Ali Rashid said that both federal and provincial governments were working in close coordination to expand IT opportunities and prepare young Pakistanis for the digital economy.
