Pakistan will take on the Netherlands in the opening match of the T20 World Cup 2026 today at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, kicking off the highly anticipated tournament.
The Pakistani team enters the competition with strong momentum, having recently whitewashed Australia in a three-match T20I series. With only three group-stage matches to play—after opting out of the game against India—the Green Shirts will be aiming to secure maximum points while maintaining a strong net run rate.
The Netherlands, led by Scott Edwards, will be looking to start the tournament on a high note and gain momentum early in the group stage. Key players for the Dutch side include Max O’Dowd, Michael Levit, and Roelof van der Merwe, whose performances will be pivotal to the team’s chances.
In warm-up fixtures, the Netherlands were defeated by Zimbabwe by 29 runs, and their match against Australia was abandoned due to rain.
