In a strategic move to modernize law enforcement, the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) officially launched its specialized Cyber Patrol Unit on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Established under the directives of Additional Inspector General Dr. Athar Waheed, the unit began immediate operations to monitor digital platforms and social media networks.
The mission of this new division is twofold: security and service. Primarily, the team is tasked with tracking digital content related to the highway patrol and identifying misinformation that could undermine law enforcement efforts. By proactively countering fake news, the PHP aims to promote more responsible digital behavior among the public.
Furthermore, the unit serves as a vital link for public outreach. It is designed to scan social media for citizen grievances, ensuring that complaints are flagged and relayed to the appropriate wings for a swift resolution. By integrating digital oversight with traditional patrolling, the PHP seeks to align its operations with modern standards, ultimately strengthening public confidence and streamlining service delivery across the province.
