New e-domicile and e-local certificate service allows citizens to apply through NADRA centres and Pak ID platform
The Balochistan government has launched an electronic domicile and local certificate system, becoming the first digital initiative of its kind in the province to modernise the process of issuing these important documents.
The new e-domicile and e-local certificate system was introduced through a formal notification issued on the instructions of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, according to Shahid Rind, Assistant to the Chief Minister for Political and Media Affairs.
Applications to move online
Under the new digital framework, citizens will be able to apply for domicile and local certificates without visiting government offices repeatedly.
Applicants from anywhere in Pakistan will be able to submit requests through:
- NADRA centres
- Deputy Commissioner offices
- Pak ID platform
The government said the move will eliminate the need for applicants to travel to specific district offices, particularly benefiting people living in remote areas of Balochistan.
Digital verification to reduce fraud
Officials said the system has been designed to improve transparency and strengthen document verification.
Shahid Rind said the digital process would reduce delays, minimise unnecessary office visits and limit the involvement of middlemen who often complicate manual procedures.
He added that secure online verification mechanisms would help prevent the issuance of fake domicile and local certificates.
The system will also provide government institutions with a more reliable method for verifying citizen records, officials said.
Part of wider digital transformation drive
The provincial government described the initiative as part of its broader effort to shift public services towards technology-based solutions.
Officials said digital systems can improve administrative efficiency, reduce paperwork and make government services more accessible for citizens.
Balochistan, which faces unique geographical challenges due to its vast area and scattered population, is expected to benefit significantly from online public service delivery.
Improving access for citizens
The introduction of e-certificates is expected to make official documentation faster and more convenient, especially for residents of distant districts who previously had to make multiple visits to government offices.
Officials said the initiative represents a step towards a more transparent and citizen-focused administration model, with further digital public service reforms expected in the future.
