The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that it will take strict action against Customs officers and officials found using social media platforms without prior authorization from the Competent Authority.
According to an official notification issued on Monday, FBR field formations observed that several officers were actively engaging on social media without the required approval. The board described such actions as “misconduct” under the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1964.
The FBR has instructed all field formations to follow the relevant Office Memorandums issued by the Establishment Division regarding social media usage by government employees. The board emphasized that strict compliance with these rules is mandatory.
Officials found in violation of these guidelines may face disciplinary proceedings, the notification warned, highlighting the importance of adhering to proper protocols when representing government departments online.
The move reflects FBR’s ongoing efforts to ensure that government officials maintain professional conduct while using digital platforms.
