MOITT Announces High-Level Tech Job Openings to Lead National AI and Cybersecurity Strategies

By Tanveer Ahmed :

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MOITT) has officially launched a high-stakes recruitment drive to secure seven of the country’s most senior technology leaders. This initiative, announced on December 23, 2025, marks a critical milestone in the government’s “Digital Nation” roadmap, aiming to bridge the gap between policy and cutting-edge technical execution. The ministry is targeting industry veterans with at least a decade of specialized experience to steer the nation toward a more robust digital economy and decentralized governance model.

The recruitment focuses on three distinct tiers of leadership: one high-level Adviser, five specialized Directors, and a technical Expert. At the strategic helm is the Adviser for Emerging Technologies Research, a role designed to navigate the complexities of AI, blockchain, cloud infrastructure, and semiconductor development. This individual will not only draft national blueprints but also serve as a crucial liaison between federal and provincial authorities to ensure a unified tech landscape.

Supporting this strategic vision are five Director-level positions, each dedicated to a pillar of the digital ecosystem. The Director of E-Governance is tasked with a massive overhaul of public service delivery, while the Director of Digital Economy will craft the fiscal and regulatory frameworks necessary to boost fintech and local innovation. Parallel roles in Cybersecurity & Privacy, Internet Governance, and Emerging Skills will address the critical needs of data protection and human capital development. Rounding out the team is an AI and Machine Learning Expert, who will provide the deep technical analysis required to ground policy decisions in data-driven reality.

This move follows the recent legislative momentum of the Digital Nation Pakistan Act 2025, highlighting a shift toward an expert-led, research-driven bureaucracy. By requiring a minimum of 10 years of leadership experience, the government is signaling that it prioritizes proven private-sector success to manage public-sector digital transformation. This coordinated effort is expected to streamline how Pakistan adopts frontier technologies, moving the country closer to its goal of becoming a regional technology hub. Applications for these transformative roles are being accepted through the National Job Portal until January 6, 2026.
